Reduce The Cost Of Renewable Energy Without Reducing The Benefit

Power Purchase Agreements, grant funding and blended finance solutions that make low-carbon energy commercially viable — for businesses, developers and housing providers across the UK.

PPAs & Funding

Making Renewable Energy Financially Viable

The biggest barrier to renewable energy isn't the technology - it's the upfront cost.

Solar PV, battery storage and heat pump systems deliver real, long-term savings. But capital expenditure, procurement complexity and uncertainty around available funding can stall projects before they start.

Flint Energy helps organisations structure their energy investment properly. Whether that means a Power Purchase Agreement that removes upfront cost entirely, an ECO4 or Warm Homes Plan grant for social housing, or a blended funding strategy that makes a larger project viable. The team, here at Flint Energy, will identify the right route and manage the process from assessment through to delivery.

We don't offer funding advice in isolation. Every recommendation is built around an energy system we can design and install ourselves, so the finance and the technology are always aligned.

Our PPA & Funding Services

We help clients access the right funding mechanism for their project, then deliver the energy systems those structures are designed to fund.

// Why Choose Flint Energy

Experience & Technology All Under One Roof

Most organisations are forced to manage funding advisors and energy installers separately. Advice gets siloed, projects stall and the systems that get built don't always match the funding structure that was agreed.

Flint Energy is different. We combine energy consultancy, system design and MCS-accredited installation in a single team. That means:

Funding routes are assessed against systems we can actually deliver

Technical specifications are built around what funders require

No gap between the advice you receive and the outcome on the ground

A single point of contact from feasibility through to commissioning

Our experience team can take your project from assessment to delivery.

Common Questions About PPAs & Funding

Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime. If you’re feeling ready, go ahead and apply.

  • A PPA is a long-term contract between a property owner and an energy investor. The investor funds and installs a solar (or other renewable) system on your building. You agree to purchase the electricity that system generates at a fixed rate - typically below what you'd pay the grid - for a set period, usually 10–25 years. At the end of the term, you may have the option to purchase the system, extend the agreement or have the equipment removed.

  • Commercial PPAs are typically suited to organisations with high daytime electricity consumption and suitable roof or land space - schools, warehouses, factories, offices, retail units and housing developments. Eligibility depends on energy usage, roof size and orientation, and creditworthiness. We carry out a no-obligation feasibility assessment to confirm suitability before progressing.

  • ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation 4) is a government scheme requiring large energy suppliers to fund energy efficiency improvements in eligible homes - primarily low-income or fuel-poor households. It covers measures including insulation, heat pumps and solar PV. ECO4 is expected to transition into the Warm Homes Plan from 2025 onwards. We can assess whether your project or housing stock qualifies and manage the process on your behalf.

  • The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) provides a government grant to homeowners replacing a gas or oil boiler with a heat pump. Currently, grants are available of up to £7,500 for air source heat pumps. The grant is paid directly to the MCS-accredited installer (like ourselves) and deducted from your installation cost. We handle the application as part of our standard installation process.

  • Yes. We manage the full process - eligibility checks, application submission, technical documentation and MCS sign-off. You don't need to appoint a separate funding consultant. Everything is handled in-house by the same team delivering your system.
